The Data/Analytics Consultant will support the delivery of Data Governance initiatives for clients by assisting in the identification, tracking, and remediation of data‑related risks. The role contributes to the implementation of Data Governance frameworks aligned with DAMA‑DMBOK principles and KPMG internal methodologies, working collaboratively with business and data stakeholders.

In addition to core responsibilities, the role will handle data engineering tasks such as building and maintaining data pipelines, integrating data sources, and supporting analytical datasets.

Responsibilities

  • Support identification, tracking, and reporting of data‑related risks, including data quality issues, unclear ownership, and inconsistent definitions.
  • Assist in the implementation and day‑to‑day operation of Data Governance programs aligned with DAMA‑DMBOK principles.
  • Maintain and update Data Governance artefacts, including business glossaries, data dictionaries, data ownership documentation, and data quality issue logs.
  • Support the development and documentation of Data Governance processes, such as data ownership assignment, data quality monitoring, data classification, and metadata management.
  • Perform basic data analysis (e.g., Excel, SQL) to identify data issues and support governance maturity assessments.
  • Contribute to gap analysis activities, including documenting findings and recommendations, and support the onboarding and use of Data Governance tools.
  • Prepare and deliver clear presentations and status updates on Data Governance activities to internal and client stakeholders.
  • Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines using Python, Airflow, or Spark, applying basic knowledge of data modelling and ETL/ELT design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in data or related fields.
  • Understanding of Data Governance concepts (data quality, metadata, data ownership); familiarity with DAMA‑DMBOK is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly.
  • Proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of SQL.

Good to Have

  • Experience with Python, Airflow, or Spark.
  • Basic knowledge of data modelling and ETL / ELT pipeline design.
  • Exposure to Data Governance or Data Quality platforms (e.g., Informatica, Ataccama, Collibra).
